| Why
should I use the Grade-Maker system
when my school gives me a free planner
every year ~ and I don’t even use it! |
Think about it like this.
When you ride on an airplane, you have
one view from an aisle seat and a completely
different take on the journey from the
window. Same trip, two entirely different
perspectives. From your limited view
in the aisle, you may be more apt to
notice details about what’s going on
right beneath your nose. You might check
out the ugly carpet and, if you’re really
lucky, the not-so-ugly flight attendants.
A window seat, on the other hand, provides
you with the perfect opportunity to
do what you are not permitted to do
at school, so go for it! Gaze across
the vast blue horizon and daydream until
your little heart is content about your
future. Why not? Your head is literally
stuck in the clouds.
Your school planner is sort of like
the aisle seat. It was designed with
short-term school assignment details
in mind. Fairly down ‘n dirty, straightforward
information. The Grade-Maker system
is more like the window seat opportunity.
It was created to prompt students to
think ahead, big picture kind of stuff,
about their day, their week – their
LIFE! The Grade-Maker will challenge
your perspective on life. It will make
you think twice about what you’re doing
with the amount of time you’ve got,
24 hours per day to be exact. In a nutshell,
it will help you manage your crazy mixed-up
world which is a really cool thing ~
unless you’re one of those “perfect
people” who doesn’t need any help. |
| What,
exactly, is the Grade-Maker system and
how is it different from a planner? |
Normally, school planners
are a coil-bound soft-sided notebook
which provides sufficient space to record
details about assignments on a weekly
basis. Days of the week often appear
across the top, with subjects running
down the left-hand side, or vice versa
The Grade-Maker comes in two formats for your convenience; a spiral bound Parent As Coach Approach Grade-Maker book, and GMSOFT 1.0, Grade-Maker software.
Our custom checklists focus on when each important responsibility is DUE.
Without fail, some responsibilities
must be done daily, others once or twice a week - but always on the same day, and
occasionally you will have a special
project. The Grade-Maker will enable
you to enter each task once within seconds
~ then track progress for months on
one form. Checklists don't forget! It remembers everything for
you so you don’t have to. Talk about
a no-brainer. Feel free to customize the
system to meet your needs. You’re the
boss. Create as few, or as many, checklists as you like to manage your world with ease. |
| Why
should I waste my time and energy getting
organized? I'm getting by. |
I hate to bust your bubble,
but it takes way more time
to do things when you’re NOT organized.
Procrastination and disorganization
are sucking your time and energy away
like a car wash power vac. You will
always get things done quicker and better
if you take a little bit of time to
get organized first.
It will only take a few minutes
to set-up the Grade-Maker in a way that
works for you. Realistically, it will take two or three
weeks to develop the new habit of using
the system each day, so, let’s be straight
with one another. The Grade-Maker is
not a miracle drug. If you don’t use
it the way it’s intended, it’s worthless.
However, if you’re sick and tired of
fighting with mom and dad about your
responsibilities, and you’ve had enough
of the anxiety and depression that comes
from being disorganized, the Grade-Maker

| What
good is your system when I don't know
how to plan? Further, I don't like to
(and you can't make me!) |
The good news is you’re
not alone. Few students want to use
the system at first. However, without
training and assistance, odds are good
you will never realize your full potential.
Remember, this is YOUR LIFE we’re talking
about. You will be the one continually
frustrated, irritated, and stressed
out once you are faced with multiple
responsibilities if you lack the ability
to plan, prioritize and get organized.
As a student, you will be the one who
loses privileges or attends summer school
or repeats a class if you don’t stay
on top of things.
As an adult, you will be the one who
is passed by for promotions and forfeits
life-changing opportunities if you fail
to learn these valuable skills. Think
about it for a minute. Why would a company
choose you for a promotion when one
glance at your messy desk and work station
reveals that you are not able to handle
your current responsibilities? The Grade-Maker
team would like to challenge you to
care enough about your own future to
remain open and teachable. Whichever system you choose (book or software), we'll provide sufficient training to make the system
work for you. |

with all the time management and productivity
talk? I’m just a kid. I want to have
fun! |
| If you truly want to
have fun, then allow the Grade-Maker
to help you become more responsible!
Mom and dad will gladly give you privileges
when they see that you are on top of
your responsibilities at school, at
home – and in life! Feel free to implement
as much or as little of the system as
you choose. If the system intimidates
you, start small. You’ve probably heard
the saying, “How do you eat an elephant?
One bite at a time.” Pick one form that
you think could really make a difference
for you and use it for awhile before
you start using another one. If you
feel like digesting the whole elephant,
go for it! Nothing can “DUE” it better.™ |
| What
if I’m too stupid to use the Grade-Maker
System? I doubt if anything can help
me. |
| If you find yourself
thinking this way, you really should
stop talking to yourself like that.
You have the ability to make a contribution
to this world that only YOU can make.
If you are struggling academically,
that is all the more reason to get organized.
You need every edge you can get. Why
not give the Grade-Maker an honest effort.
